An OGRA spokesman said that the gas companies had requested an increase in tariffs to cover their losses.
“Prices were raised after a public hearing, but the government will give final approval to the increase in gas prices”, he added.
The hike in gas prices has added insult to the injuries of the citizens already battling an increase in prices at the Utility Stores.
Cold drinks, soaps, cooking oil, ghee, tea, pickle, and detergent are among the list of items whose prices have gone out of the reach of the poor.
