Inside story: What makes Maryam Nawaz postpone her Swat public gathering?

PML-N VP Maryam Nawaz has postponed its political campaign in Swat against PTI government ahead of no-confidence motion due to illness.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz has postponed its political campaign in Swat against the incumbent government led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of no-confidence motion due to illness.

The PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a statement that Maryam Nawaz is suffering from fever and her doctors prescribed her complete rest. She apologised to Swat activists and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the postponement of the public gathering.

Sources told News360 that Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif had been stopped from actively participating in the political campaigns under an agreement till the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

They added that Maryam had violated the agreement by delivering statements against the PTI government, Imran Khan and neutrality of the institutions in a press conference outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) yesterday.

“Under the agreement, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz had kept a complete silence over the political developments for a long time. She then chose to postpone her Swat public gathering after launching criticism against the PTI government in her presser yesterday.”

Yesterday, Maryam Nawaz had censured PM Imran Khan and PTI ministers for criticising the neutral institutions, saying that the neutrality of the state institutions has annoyed the ruling party most and claimed that their ‘game is over’.

She made the statement after appearing before the IHC yesterday. The PML-N VP had also alleged that the PTI government and PM Imran Khan never allowed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) or the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to stay neutral.

She then announced that Shehbaz Sharif would be the next prime minister.

Not only, Maryam Nawaz, but PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had also accused the PTI government of attempts to escape the no-confidence motion.
