Did Dawn News Anchor Act Rightly Towards Trolling?

While discussing increased petrol prices, Gul Meena degradingly corrected a Twitter user for misunderstanding her statement

The recent hike in petrol prices by Rs 5 seemingly fumed Dawn News anchor Gul Meena Sethi to a point that she resorted to using abusive language with one of her followers on social media.

Although Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended an increase of Rs 1 per liter in the petrol price but it wasn’t considered by the government.

Therefore, the revised petrol price has now gone up to Rs 123.30 per liter and citizens are finding it hard to meet their ends.

In this regard, a Twitter user named Natasha expressed her concerns as she didn’t know what to do after she had already cut down all possible extra expenditures at home.

Responding to her, another user explained how the new prices are going to impact the delivery service as they are going to overcharge.

In the midst of this conversation, anchorperson Gul Meena joined in and explained how she and her husband are running her food delivery business without a rider.

Gul added the recent increase is affecting their bills and monthly expenditures.

A Twitter user in response recalled that Gul is the daughter of Principal Secretary to former PM Yousaf Raza Gillani and she has been associated with renowned news channels like Dawn News and CNBC.

Therefore, commenting that new petrol prices are going to badly affect her delivery service doesn’t make any sense.

Gul responded by saying how many crores he thinks Dawn News has paid her.

Continuing the conversation, that Twitter user felt apologetic towards Gul who wasn’t given her salary on time by the news organizations.

This time, Gul Meena replied with an abusive word and degradingly corrected him saying that if he couldn’t read or understand what she had written, then it’s better not to attempt trolling.
