Karachi’s University Road Submerges Again as Line Burst
The water accumulation on the main road developed traffic snarl-ups and vehicles moved at a snail’s pace
The University Road in Karachi was once again inundated as an 84-inch diameter water pipeline burst on Friday evening.
The water pipeline near Safoora Chowrangi burst and hundreds of gallons of freshwater was accumulated on road, leaving it submerged.
The water accumulation on the main road developed traffic snarl-ups and vehicles moved at a snail’s pace.
The ambulances heading to DOW University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Ojha Campus were also stuck in the congested traffic.

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) officials told the water supply to District East and Central was cut and the repair work was started.
The bursting of the water pipeline on University Road isn’t anomalous as several such incidents have occurred over the past few years.
In April 2018, a water pipeline burst near Federal Urdu University while another similar incident happened near Safari Park on the main artery of Karachi in January 2016.
The main water pipeline, which passes through the Aziz Bhatti Park near Federal University burst in December 2015, flooding the University Road.
