Khawaja Asif Criticizes Media, Advises it to Avoid Negative News about Important Appointment
The Defense Minister termed the media reports about the Army Chief as negative and said that national broadcasters should refrain from adopting such an attitude. Asif zardari and Defense Minister also discussed about the new Chief in the meeting with the Prime Minister.
The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif says that the media is making the process of appointing the chief of the Pakistan Army controversial. National broadcasters should refrain from adopting such an attitude.
Federal Minister for Defense Affairs Khawaja Asif termed the role of the media regarding the decision of the Chief of the Pakistan Army as undesirable and said that the national broadcasting organizations should be reluctant to adopt such an attitude.
In one of his Twitter messages, Khawaja Asif said that all the steps for the appointment of the Army Chief would be decided soon. He has also confirmed that the Prime Minister’s House has received the summary for the appointment of the Army Chief.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army, ISPR, the General Headquarters (GHQ) has sent the summary to the Ministry of Defense for the appointment of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Army Chief.
GHQ has forwarded the summary for Selection of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of 6 senior most Lt Gens to MoD.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari met the Prime Minister last night in which the name of the Army Chief was considered. Asif Zardari had also announced to accept the Prime Minister’s decision.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif blamed the national broadcasters regarding the appointment of the new army chief and said that the media is adopting a negative attitude in this regard while it should avoid it.

In the meeting with the Prime Minister, Khawaja Asif discussed the issues related to the appointment of the Army Chief. He had said that the meeting with the Prime Minister is a part of the consultation process and the decision of the Army Chief is also included.
The Minister of Defense has said that there are some technical issues related to the appointment of the new Army Chief, which will be resolved soon and the appointment of the new Chief of the Pakistan Army will be announced by November 25 or 26.
The defense minister refrained from revealing the names in the summary, but sources say that the first name in the summary is that of Lt. Gen. Asim Munir, while the second is that of Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad.
The summary received by the Ministry of Defense includes the names of Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas, Lt. Gen. Nauman Mehmood, Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed and Lt. Gen. Muhammad Amir.
