Listening to conscience: Ahmad Jawad resigns as PM’s focal person

Ahmad Jawad resigned as PM's focal person on digital media after having differences with the federal government on different issues including Arshad Sharif's killing.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s focal person on digital media Ahmad Jawad has tendered his resignation citing ‘a powerless government and after ‘listening to conscience’ following the death of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.

Ahmad Jawad resigned as PM’s focal person on digital media after having differences with the federal government on different issues including Arshad Sharif’s killing.

On Twitter, Jawad said that he joined PTI and PML-N when both political parties were in the opposition and later he left them when they came into power. He claimed that he set some examples in national politics.

He also shared a copy of his resignation letter, stating that he has not received any perks and privileges from the government to perform his duties. He said that he will not be part of any fraud in the country while the powerless government could not take its decisions independently.

Ahmad Jawad expressed suspicions that the result of the inquiry into Arshad Sharif’s killing would be the same as the murder probes of Liaquat Ali Khan and Benazir Bhutto. He said that the journalist’s sacrifice will not go in vain and he was the ‘final reminder’ of ‘independence’ in the country.

He also demanded the premier announce fresh elections to let the nation decide about their rulers. Jawad said that he tendered his resignation after listening to his conscience following Arshad Sharif’s death.

Earlier in the month, after Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali, Azam Nazeer Tarar resigned as Federal Minister for Law and Justice citing ‘personal reasons’.
