MQM-P delegation piles up complaints before PM Shehbaz Sharif
A two-member delegation of MQM-P along with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif yesterday.
A two-member delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) along with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif yesterday and raised complaints regarding the PPP’s non-implementation of the agreement and the local government (LG) elections campaign.
PM Shehbaz Sharif assured the MQM-P delegation that he will talk to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to resolve the issues.
MQM-P Convenor Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Deputy Convenor Waseem Akhtar along with Sindh Governor Kamran Tesuri met PM Sharif yesterday.
In the meeting, they discussed the issues of new delimitation and upcoming LG elections in Karachi. The delegation informed the prime minister about the non-implementation of the agreement between MQM-P and PPP.
Sources said the delegation raised a pile of complaints before the premier regarding the difficulties in the election campaign for the upcoming LG elections including new delimitation.
The MQM-P leaders said that they are still not allowed to open their offices, whereas, MQM-P flags and banners put up in connection with LG elections are being taken down and chalking and banners are being displayed for MQM London.
According to the sources, the MQM delegation complained that the Sindh government of the PPP did not fulfil any promises, including the appointment of an administrator and handing over the district municipalities to the MQM.
Sources say that the delegation reminded PM Shehbaz Sharif that the agreement was signed by him as a witness. According to sources, the premier assured the MQM delegation that he will discuss it with Asif Zardari.
Meanwhile, the MQM-P delegation also met the PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
Sources said that MQM also complained about the non-implementation of the agreement in a separate meeting with Asif Zardari, on which the former president assured to discuss MQM-P’s concerns with the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
