Speedy Trial For Mureed Abbas Case to Begin August 30

The investigation identified Atif Zaman as the suspect who shot Khizar Hayat and Mureed Abbas outside a local cafe in Karachi in 2019

In the latest development in anchorperson Mureed Abbas killing case, the sessions court has scheduled a speedy trial from August 30 the verdict of which will be announced within a month.

Mureed Abbas was working at Bol News as an anchorperson and he was killed outside a local cafe in the Khayaban-e-Bukhari in Defence area of Karachi in 2019.

Later, the investigation identified Atif Zaman as the suspect who had shot two business partners and then attempted suicide at Mureed’s apartment.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the victim’s lawyer Jibran Nasir congratulated Mureed’s wife Zaara for her dedication to serve justice to her deceased husband.

Moreover, anchor Zaara Abbas also took a sigh of relief and shared the timeline of speedy trial to be conducted on the orders of district and sessions court.

Previously, Atif Zaman had moved a post-arrest bail application but it was rejected by the court.
