NAB chairman fails to recover own occupied plot in housing society

NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal has revealed that a housing society had occupied his residential plot worth Rs4.5 million in Rawalpindi.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has revealed that a housing society had occupied his residential plot worth Rs4.5 million in Rawalpindi.

Javed Iqbal claimed that Broadsheet LLC had not sought pardon from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif.

While speaking before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the NAB chairman said that Rs2.5 billion were returned to affectees of a housing society in Rawalpindi. He added that the achievements of the anti-graft watchdog should be appreciated.

He revealed that he had bought a plot worth Rs4.5 million in a Rawalpindi society that was occupied. Iqbal said that the owner of the society admitted to having the money and demanded to give him a piece of land. He added that he told him that the institution was not dealing in the trade of land.

Iqbal said that the achievements of the anti-graft watchdog during his tenure should be appreciated.

“If you are going to amend the NAB law, then they should get the benefit of my personal experience. The NAB law should not be amended in anyone’s personal interests. There are some institutions and authorities existing in the country that cannot be challenged by anyone.”

Javed Iqbal, while censuring Nawaz Sharif, claimed that those who have sought pardon from Nawaz Sharif are not Broadsheet. Broadsheet LLC did not tender any apology to Nawaz Sharif. He suggested that the report of Justice Azmat Saeed-led commission should be reviewed on the Broadsheet case.
