Govt renews efforts to repatriate Nawaz Sharif, decides to move LHC
Federal government has decided to approach LHC against Shahbaz Sharif who guaranteed the return of the ex-PM Nawaz Sharif.
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has renewed efforts to bring Nawaz Sharif back home as it was decided to approach the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Shahbaz Sharif who guaranteed the return of the former prime minister.
The federal government has decided to file a petition against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President and Nawaz Sharif’s brother Shahbaz Sharif who became guarantor for the former prime minister in a plea seeking permission to travel abroad on humanitarian grounds for receiving medical treatment.
In November 2019, the LHC had granted permission to Nawaz Sharif for travelling abroad for medical treatment for four weeks besides ordering the federal government to remove his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) without any conditions.

The federal government had placed a condition of indemnity bonds for Nawaz Sharif’s travel permission to get the go-ahead for auctioning his properties if he fails to return to Pakistan. However, the PML-N had rejected the government’s ‘biased’ decision ‘based on revenge politics’.
Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had earlier said on Monday that the government is likely to finalise an agreement with the British government to bring back Nawaz Sharif.
The development was witnessed amid the speculations of Nawaz Sharif’s planned return to Pakistan in January 2022 after finalising a deal with power centres.
Nawaz Sharif planned to return in Jan; satisfied with script: journalist
Senior journalist Saleem Safi had claimed three days ago that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be returning to Pakistan in January 2021 as per his plan.
As per the plan, Nawaz Sharif will go to jail first and later appeals will be filed for the elimination of his sentences in different cases and to seek relief from the courts.

The host of a famous television program ‘Jirga’ of private news channel had claimed that the recent transfer of Nab director-general was made in this connection of upcoming events.
The ousted prime minister, who was permitted to travel abroad for receiving medical treatment due to his precarious health, has seemingly satisfied with the script, claimed the journalist in his tweet.
It may be noted here that Nawaz Sharif had departed for London for his medical treatment on November 19, 2019, and never returned.
