Nawaz Sharif’s medical report draws wide criticism
Questions arose after his factory visit regarding the authenticity of the medical report which prescribed him not to travel to Pakistan.
LAHORE: The medical report submitted by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has drawn wide criticism which stated that he was suffering from Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (broken-heart syndrome).
It may be noted here that a fresh medical report of Nawaz Sharif had been submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday, in which the PML-N supremo was advised against travelling to Pakistan due to possible health risks.
Dr Fayaz Shawl stated in the three-page report that Nawaz Sharif has significant ischemia (a condition in which the blood flow is restricted or reduced in a part of the body) in the distribution of his left circumflex artery”.
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (broken-heart syndrome)
According to Harvard Medical School, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is named after an octopus traps that occurs almost exclusively in women.
It read, “Years of gender-based research have shown that in matters of the heart, sex differences abound. One striking example is the temporary heart condition known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as broken-heart syndrome, first described in 1990 in Japan.”
Nabeel Qureshi, Haroon Shahid mock Nawaz Sharif’s medical report
“More than 90% of reported cases are in women ages 58 to 75. Research suggests that up to 5% of women suspected of having a heart attack actually have this disorder. Most people recover with no long-term heart damage.” Moreover, the recovery from the broken-heart syndrome can take less than a month.
Factory visit
Interestingly, the former premier Nawaz Sharif had visited a factory 200 kilometres away from Lahore just after the submission of his medical report to the LHC.
Questions arose after his factory visit regarding the authenticity of the medical report which prescribed him to travel to Pakistan but at the same time, it allows him to travel there.
The government circles have launched criticism against the medical report of Nawaz Sharif as Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry termed it interesting and fake.
Govt’s efforts for Nawaz Sharif’s medical reports may prove to be fruitless
He censured that such medical reports were an attempt to mock Pakistan’s judicial system as a doctor living in Washington for a patient who is residing in London.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill had tweeted, saying that it seems Nawaz Sharif is now contracting such diseases which occurs ‘exclusively in women’. He also slammed Sharif’s medical report, terming it another lie.

Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib wrote on Twitter that Nawaz Sharif could visit a factory by travelling for 4-5 hours from London to a destination near Manchester but he cannot return to Pakistan in an air ambulance.
