PMDA Won’t Restrict Any Medium of Media: Farrukh Habib
The state minister said it is important to stop fake news and the government is working on it
State Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that the purpose of the Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA) is not policing but the development of media.
While exclusively talking with News360, he said the government is not imposing any restrictions on electronic or digital media.
“Our focus is on job security for the journalist community, working journalists, and media workers, which is being ensured in this bill”, the state minister claimed.

Habib said that it is important to stop fake news and the government is working on it.
He added that the digital media platforms like YouTube, Netflix, and Facebook are earning in Pakistan, emphasizing these companies should have offices in the country.
This will put them under a framework, the state minister said.
He clarified that the government has no plans to impose any restrictions on social media neither it can be done.
The state minister said the government wants the media to work independently but responsibly.
