KARACHI: Citizens in different parts of the city are protesting against the worst load shedding by K-Electric in Karachi. Traffic on the Maripur Road has been suspended for the last 18 hours due to sit-ins. Due to protests and road blockades, long queues of vehicles have formed.
According to details, the protest of residents of the Maripur area of Karachi against unannounced load shedding continued even after 18 hours.
Due to the protest, the traffic was completely suspended and long queues of heavy traffic were formed from Maripur to Boat Basin.
Meanwhile, residents of Lyari also staged protests against load shedding in different areas.
According to the protesters, despite making many complaints to Electric, the stubbornness of the company continues. They say the protests will continue until power is restored in their areas.
The unannounced and prolonged power outage in Karachi has made the lives of the citizens miserable. The duration of the power outage has reached about 15 hours.
According to reports, power outages were continued during the scorching heat in Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Lyari, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Model Colony, North Nazimabad, Orangi Town and Clifton.
In some areas, K Electric has started load shedding for 10 hours a day in the name of “power restoration”, while the exception areas are also facing 8-hour cuts.
