RJ Adeel Azhar Interrogated For His ‘Mahajir’ Identity
‘Will you ever become Pakistani or remain Mahajir all your life?’, a question that infuriated Adeel who retorted, ‘What kind of question is this?’
A popular radio jockey (RJ) Adeel Azhar encountered racism and was asked why he still calls himself a Mahajir.
This happened to Adeel Azhar when he was just a few kilometers (kms) away from Kaghan this week.
The RJ took to his Twitter account and shared the ordeal which started at a picket. A hawaldar asked Adeel, ‘Where are you from in Sindh?’
‘Are you a Sindhi speaker or a Mahajir?’, the constable shocked the visitor.
I asked him again “batao ye kya sawal poocha hai. Tum decide karo ge ye”
He said “acha aap jayain”
I of course left but everyone in my car was shocked by those few seconds of conversation. Though to explain my kids why that policeman asked these questions from us.
