Samaa and Jisarat give Eid bonus to employees, Geo News employees deprived of salaries
Samaa News and Jisarat newspaper released Eid bonus to employees while employees of major channels including Geo News have not been paid salaries for last 2 months, Aaj News has announced to release salaries today
Before the arrival of Eid-ul-Fitr, private news channel Samaa TV paid one month’s salary to its employees as a bonus.
Management of Samaa TV has paid one month’s salary as a bonus to all employees before Eid-ul-Fitr, but many bad TV channels including Geo News are not paying their salaries for the last 2 months.
President K UJ Khalil Nasir and General Secretary Nimat Khan welcomed the release of bonuses for journalists and other media workers by daily Jisarat and Samaa TV.
Karachi Union of Journalists while congratulating the employees of Jisarat and Samaa said that other media owners should also announce bonuses for their employees on Eid.
According to reports, many organizations including Geo News, and Aaj News have not paid salaries to employees for the last 2 months, but the management of Aaj News has assured to pay the arrears in one to two days.
A two-member delegation of the Karachi Union of Journalists met Shahab Zuberi, Group Chief of Aaj News, in which they discussed the salaries of the employees.
Shahab Zuberi said that the administration is making efforts to resolve the salary issues due to delays in payment of government advertisement arrears which are being resolved.
Shahab Zuberi, Group Head of Aaj News, said that the salary in February was paid on April 11, while the salary in March was also paid a day earlier this month of April.
Country’s largest media group, Jeev and Jang Group, has also been slow to pay salaries for the past two months, with employees demanding that all arrears be paid before Eid
