Facebook Introduces Its Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
The spectacles will have a pair of cameras for taking photos and videos as well as a microphone and a speaker
Facebook will literally come out of the pockets as it has launched the first smart glasses in collaboration with luxury sunglasses and eyeglasses brand Ray-Ban. The smart glasses have been named ‘Stories’.
They will have a pair of cameras for taking photos and videos as well as a microphone and a speaker.
The smart glasses will also have a voice assistant to let the jobs done without needing to touch them.

The smart glasses will have a LED light that will show when the camera is operational to make other people aware when a wearer is capturing a photo or video.
The embodied camera will be able to capture images of 5 megapixels and a video of a duration of up to half a minute.

Facebook has taken inspiration from Spectacles introduced by Snapchat in 2016.
Initially, Ray-Ban will design hardware-equipped Wayfarers as its own product.
However, the smart Wayfarers will be a few millimeters thicker and 5 grams heavier than a standard one.
Director of Product Management at Facebook Reality Labs, Monisha Perkash said her company wants to build tools that help people connected all the time.
“We want to create a sense of social presence, the feeling that you’re right there with another person sharing the same space, regardless of physical distance”, she said.
