International Cricket Council (ICC) has also announced the schedule of the T20 World Cup in the UAE in October.

The first fixture of Afghanistan is scheduled for October 25 but there are fears whether the team will get the green signal from the new regime to participate in the mega event.

The general perception is that the militia does not entertain sports.

However, the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hamid Shinwari is hopeful that the sport will not suffer as a consequence of political change.

Instead, he said that the Taliban support cricket and love the game.

According to the media reports, Muhammad Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban spokesperson in the Qatar office, also clarified that Afghan cricket would not suffer despite the change in political structure.
