Sania & Shoaib’s Sports Academies to Set Out in Dubai

The decision was made after Naomi Osaka confirmed her withdrawal from French Open due to mental health issues

Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and his wife Sania Mirza have joined hands to set up sports academies in Dubai by August this year that will offer tennis and cricket.

The decision has been announced after Naomi Osaka confirmed her withdrawal from the French Open due to mental health issues on May 31.

During a virtual interview with Gulf News, Sania Mirza shared her plans for the sports academy and how she takes Naomi’s decision.

Talking about her tennis school in her native city Hyderabad in South India, Sania confirmed that the sports academies in Dubai will be a branch of it which will be in operations by August.

The duo has decided to launch hybrid academies by August as the six-time grand slam doubles champion is going to United Kingdom (UK) for her matches and her husband is currently busy in Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Abu Dhabi, where he is mentoring Peshawar Zalmi squad.

Having a home in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, Sania Mirza has been a perfect example in balancing her career, and motherhood.

Answering a question about Japanese world second seed Naomi Osaka’s decision to quit French Open to protect her mental health, Sania agreed that mental health is very important and just because an individual is a superstar, it doesn’t make them less human.
