Lahore Qalandar’s Sohail Akhtar and Fakhar Zaman partnered to make 55 runs on the first wicket but Fawad Ahmed bowled the Qalandars captain on the last ball of the power play and then wickets fell like dominoes.

Islamabad United had knocked out Quetta Gladiators by ten wickets on June 11 when openers Colin Munro and Usman Khawaja finished off 134-run target with ten overs in spare.

Shortly after United’s powerful return, some staunch fans recalled the losing team’s efforts of last season and how the ‘underdogs’ set a high benchmark.
