Two Pakistani Weightlifters Replicate Movie Dangal
Khadija and Shafaq were initially trained by their father but due to his professional commitments, they have joined an academy in Gujranwala
Khadija Dar and Shafaq Dar, two young Pakistani female weightlifters, are true examples of like-father-like-daughter apothegm as they are pursuing their careers in the same field.
Waheed Dar is a former national weightlifter and now a coach who always wanted his daughters to be successful weightlifters.
Waheed has been successful in training Khadija, 15, and Shafaq, 16, with the basics of the sport, and both teenagers are determined to hoist the Pakistani flag at international platforms.

Seeing the young blood practice, sports journalist Faizan Lakhani took to his Twitter handle to motivate the girls.
“Khadija Dar and Shafaq Dar, daughters of a former weightlifter Waheed Dar, aiming to continue their father’s legacy”, he wrote.

Although Waheed Dar doesn’t have a son but his daughters are carrying forward his dream and he is hopeful and confident of their success in the future.
Khadija and Shafaq were initially trained by their father but due to Waheed’s professional commitments, they have joined the Star Weightlifting Academy in Gujranwala.
Interestingly, the Dar sisters are being coached in the same academy where Olympian Talha Talib was trained.
Gujranwala’s Dar Sisters are keeping their eyes on the South Asian Games and both are hopeful that they can win a medal in weightlifting for the country.
A Twitter user commented that the dedication of both girls recalled Aamir Khan’s movie Dangal in which Poghat sisters emerged from the Balali district of Haryana in India and became wrestling sensations.
Reminds of Dangal… Best of luck 🙂
