Ishaq Dar Carved Up on Twitter After BBC Interview

PML-N official looked flummoxed, unable to defend the corruption allegations that has long been associated with him

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar must be regretting to accept an interview offer by HardTalk, a show hosted by BBC journalist, Stephen Sackur.

The ‘carping’ journalist who has interviewed hundreds of international figures and managed to take a lead over them repeated the same when interviewing Dar.

The snippets of the interview were shared on different social media platforms with Pakistanis making fun of the former minister and relative of PML-Chairman Nawaz Sharif.

#IshaqDar and #StephenSackur top trended on Twitter in Pakistan just a few hours after the interview aired.

During the interview, the PML-N official looked flummoxed, unable to defend the corruption allegations that has long been associated with him.

The interview caused a stir in Pakistan which was even recognized by the Sackur himself.

Dar said that Nawaz Sharif was struggling for democracy and supremacy of the parliament.

He termed the incumbent system a form of ‘judicial martial law’.

However, the former government official was criticized for ‘maneuvering’ truth.

George Fulton, a former producer of BBC Hardtalk Pakistan, offered free mock interview services to Pakistani politicians on how to best prepare for an interview at Hard Talk.

However, his first lesson was to ‘Don’t accept the offer’.

Federal Maritime Minister Ali Haider Zaidi urged the show host to invite more PML-N officials for entertainment.

This is not the first time Ishaq Dar is in trouble. In a confessional statement in the Hudaibiya Paper Mills reference, Dar had admitted to money laundering of $14.86 million.
