Public View on Cantonment Board Elections Today
Different political parties have fielded 354 candidates in the election for six cantonment boards in Karachi for 42 seats of councilors wherein 466,522 registered voters will cast their votes on September 12.
The cantonments are divided into 3 classes based on population and the polling will begin at 8:00 am in the morning and will conclude at 5:00 p.m in the evening.
The first tier is called ‘Class one cantonment’ with a population of 0.1 million or more, the second tier is called ‘Class two cantonment’ where the population is 50,000 and the population is less than 0.1 million in ‘Class three cantonment’.

The only party which is contesting from all of 42 seats is Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
However, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has fielded 41 candidates, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) is in the battle with 39 candidates, and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) with 33
Moreover, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) is contesting with 27 Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 23 and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) is in the pool with only 13 candidates in this election.
