Greta Thunberg Settles Score With Donald Trump

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on January 20 settled a score with former US President Donald Trump, saying the outgoing U.S. President “seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future”.

Greta Thunberg was taking a dig at Mr. Trump, who frequently disputes the science behind climate change and had sarcastically aimed at her in 2019 when he wrote on Twitter that “she seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future”.

Thunberg continued her practice of throwing Trump’s own words back at him on Twitter, where she riffed off one of his old tweets to mock his departure from the White House.

The tweet included a photo of Trump waving from the steps of Marine One, moments before he departed the White House for the final time in his presidency.

Many of Thunberg’s Twitter followers applauded her for her “last dig” towards Trump, including the former President’s niece Mary Trump who replied to Thunberg’s Twitter writing, “Well played.”

This is not the first time Greta Thunberg has delivered a stinging burn to Trump. She also Tweeted earlier aiming at the former US President when Donald Trump’s defeat became imminent in the US Presidential elections in November. Donald Trump had tweeted in November last year, “STOP THE COUNT!”
