SAG-AFTRA May Ban Donald Trump From Being a Member

Trump has been banned from various social media platforms following the Capitol City Riots

Screen Actor Guild Award (SAG-AFTRA), might ban ex-US President Donald Trump, he has already been banned from various other social media platforms.

Only one day after Trump completed his term as president of the United States Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists SAG-AFTRA are considering banning ex-President Donald Trump from membership over his role in inciting the attack on the US Capitol two weeks ago.

Union president Gabrielle Carteris initiated charges against Trump, accusing him of promoting misinformation that led to the attack, which left five people dead and more than 50 police officers injured.

Trump has been a SAG member since 1989.

His credits include “The Apprentice,” “Saturday Night Live” and many cameos in films and TV series including “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Sex in and City.”

Donald Trump was earlier banned from many social media platforms following the Capitol City riots. The microblogging site Twitter has permanently suspended Trump’s account.

Facebook

Facebook has also suspended Trump from its platform. The company says the risk from allowing Trump to use the platform is “simply too great”.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the site was already removing or flagging his posts in which breached rules, but the riots on the Capitol changed everything.

“The current context is now fundamentally different, involving the use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government,” he said.

Instagram

Photo sharing app Instagram which is owned by Facebook also banned Donald Trump.

Tik Tok

TikTok, the video-sharing app, has reportedly removed videos that helped incite violence at the Capitol.

Reddit

The online content aggregator has also banned the popular subreddit group ‘r/DonaldTrump’ for inciting violence.

A note on the page currently reads: “This community was banned due to a violation of Reddit’s rules against inciting violence.”
