Media Neglects Slash in Petroleum Prices For September

It didn’t give coverage to the reduction in the rate of the daily-use commodity which will somehow positively impact the ballooning inflation

The slash in petroleum prices in Pakistan for September has not been able to make the headlines in media as the rise does.

From September 1, petrol will be available Rs 1.50 less than the rate of the previous month and the revised price is Rs 118.30 per liter.

The high-speed diesel will be available at Rs 115.03 per liter with the application of a reduction of Rs 1.50 while Kerosine Oil will be sold at Rs 86.80 per liter.

In the notification, the government said the reduction has been done despite the anticipated increase in the international oil prices in the future and current price fluctuations.

However, the slash in petroleum prices for September couldn’t impress media as the trivial increase did in the past months.

It didn’t give coverage to the reduction in the rate of the daily-use commodity which will somehow positively impact the ballooning inflation.

It was also observed that any media outlet went to take public views on the revised rates, which was readily visible when they went up.

Some social media users have questioned the duplicity of the media outlets and said that it should hail the government on its efforts of providing relief to the people as it bawls out on the price hike.
