Ali Zafar raises questions after Meesha Shafi’s plea dismissed by LHC

Singer Ali Zafar has raised some questions after the LHC dismissed Meesha Shafi’s pleas which sought to quash case against her filed by FIA.

Singer Ali Zafar has raised some questions after the Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed Meesha Shafi’s pleas which sought to quash case against her filed by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The Lahore High Court had dismissed all pleas of singer Meesha Shafi and others on Wednesday which sought the court to quash the FIA case against her. Meesha Shafia and other petitioners had also been fined by the court for delaying the case.

The court stated in its verdict that the case was not filed in violation of PECA’s Article 4 and 25 of Section 20.

Following the developments, Ali Zafar posted Twitter messages to raise some questions.

While commenting on a post, he asked the reporter from Geo News, Shahid Hussain, to ‘respectfully’ question Shafi for not appearing before the court by giving a reason that she could not travel from Canada due to the COVID-19 pandemic but then she immediately arrived in the country for Coke Studio.

He added that she should be questioned to depart from the country without informing the court, leaving the cross-examination incomplete.

He then wrote, “Please, you should also question her whether she is appearing before the court in the next hearing of the defamation case on March 12 to conclude the cross-examination despite being given opportunity to give her stance.”

It may be noted that Meesha Shafi had moved to the LHC to quash case filed against her by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over the complaint of Ali Zafar.

Two weeks ago, a local court in Lahore had rejected singer Meesha Shafi’s plea for permanent exemption and appointment of a pleader in social media campaign case.

The judicial magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Virk gave the reserved verdict on Meesha Shafi’s plea seeking permanent exemption from her appearance in the hearing of a case related to running a social media campaign against singer Ali Zafar.

In April 2018, singer and actor Meesha Shafi had made a statement on Twitter that Ali Zafar sexually harassed her on more than one occasion. Ali Zafar had filed a defamation suit against Shafi over the allegations.
