CPEC Project of Matiari Transmission Line Commenced
Prior to its operational date, as many as 8 tests were carried successfully under Commercial Operation Date (COD) on the transmission line
The Pakistan Matiari-Lahore transmission line, a flagship project under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has commenced the power transmission on September 1.
The 660 KV Matiari transmission line project was completed as per the agreed timeline between National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC) and Pak Matiari Lahore Transmission Line Company (PMLTC).
Prior to its operational date, as many as 8 tests were carried successfully under Commercial Operation Date (COD) on the transmission line.

The power test includes Commissioning Tests (DC Station Tests) Lahore (A1), Commissioning Tests (DC Station Tests) Matiari (A2), Mono-pole Low Power System Tests (Upto 400 MW each pole) (A3), Bi-pole Low Power System Tests (Upto 800 MW Bi-pole) (A4), Mono-pole High Power Tests (2200 MW, each pole) (A5), Bi-pole High Power Tests at Maximum Available Power (MAP) (A6) and Special Optional Tests (recommended by OE) (A7).
Meanwhile, the last test of the Trial Operation for 168 hours and the Capability Demonstration Test for 6 hours was successfully done on August 18.
The 878 kilometers project was completed on a Built-Own-Operate-Transfer basis for a term of 25 years and will supply electricity from power plants to the southern parts of the country.
The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) approved the Security Package Documents (LA) and Transmission Services Agreement (TSA) on July 25, 2017, which came into force on May 14, 2018.
Under the agreement, NTDC is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the transmission line.
