Govt all set to get its 28 bills passed today in joint session
Opposition's efforts failed, all PTI allies decide to support government.
The much-waited parliament’s joint session will be held today. The government is all set to get its all 28 bills passed in the session despite having a two-vote majority.
The PTI-led government seems confident after assurances of support from all coalition partners. All the coalition partners including PML-Q, MQM-P, BAP and Jahangir Tareen group have decided to support the government in today’s joint session.

Yesterday, President Dr Arif Alvi had formally summoned the joint parliament session to be held at noon today, in which over two dozen bills, including the electoral reforms bills, will be taken up.
Last week, the opposition members had twice defeated the government in the lower house during voting on two motions for getting the bills passed. However, now, the opposition appears less confident and disappointed due to developments the government made during the past five days.
Overall, the government has a majority of just two votes in the 440-member parliament – the upper house and the lower house. There are 221 members of the treasury benches while 219 of opposition benches.
The PTI-led government enjoys a 17-vote majority in the National Assembly, while it lags behind the opposition in the Senate by 15 votes.
