The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) has conducted a 3-year study about the challenges journalists have to face throughout their careers.
The CEJ study was based on a survey about the psychological and physical complaints by the journalists because of the profession.
As per details, the surveys were conducted on 50 journalists during 2018-2020.
The study was conducted to have a clear picture of the sufferings of the journalists in Pakistan.
About the psychological issues, the result suggested that nearly 16% of participants experience anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances around 25%, hopelessness in 30.4%, and anger or rage in 23.2% of the correspondents.

On the other hand, the survey about the physical complaints suggested that nearly 66% of participants suffer hypertension because of work stress.
Some 31.6% face migraines and headaches, 10.5% of participants have sleep disorders, and 11.8% go through digestive issues.

Not only this, around 15.8% suffer eyes and joints problems and 23.7% have backaches.
CEJ is an initiative for the professional development of the journalist and is a collaboration between the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), and Medill School of Journalism.
