A disturbing trend has surfaced on video sharing platform TikTok in which the users including young Pakistani men were found promoting violence against those women who do not wear a burqa.
Twitterattis condemned the TikTok trend promoting violence against women and demanded the authorities take notice.
A columnist Usama Khilji wrote on Twitter, “Very worrying trend on TikTok of young Pakistani men hypothesising death of women not wearing burqa. These issues arise when the state lets misogyny & extremism take over; with Taliban in power in Afghanistan & IRI in Iran, Pakistani state needs to lead protection of women.”
