Reasons Why Country’s Education System is in a Decline

From grammatical mistakes in the preface of a textbook of Sindh to the discriminatory title page of a  book printed under SNC, the standard of education in the country is becoming an archetype of what is called a decline.

A report jointly issued by the Sindh Education and Literacy Department and the Japan International Corporation Agency suggests that there are at least 20 million out-of-school-children (OOSC) in Pakistan and Sindh has 6 million of them.

The misery isn’t contained to enrollments as a lot of grammatical errors were spotted in the preface written by the chairman of Sindh Textbook Board, showing the prevailing incompetency in the education sector of the province.


Other than that, Sindh Local Bodies Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah spotted disparity between genders as he raised concerns over the title page of the English Grade 5 book from Punjab’s Single National Curriculum (SNC).

On the title page, the picture shows a family with mother and daughter sitting on the ground and studying while the father and son are seated on the sofa.

Criticizing the discrimination, Nasir Hussain said this is the only reason they aren’t in favor of introducing SNC in Sindh province.

Moreover, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy also pointed out the mistake and strongly condemned the lesson being preached through it.

The disparity doesn’t remain confined to the title page of a book but it has ensconced the minds which was rightly noted by the education minister of Sindh.

Addressing an event on International Literacy Day 2021, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that people speaking English are considered as the privileged ones in society.
