Geo News invites ‘Tanzeem Saaz’ Talal Chaudhry for comments on Tayyaba Gul allegations

Geo News has invited Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry, renowned for ‘Tanzeem Saazi’ scandal, for his comments on Tayyaba Gul’s allegations against former prime minister Imran Khan.

Tayyaba Gul, the woman accusing the former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chief of sexual harassment, alleged that former prime minister Imran Khan had used her videos to have his NAB cases closed and blackmailed the opposition. The woman, Tayyaba Gul, also levelled other serious allegations in the Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada ke Saath’ Thursday.

To get comments on the scandal, Geo News invited PML-N’s Talal Chaudhry alongside other panelists including Shahzeb Khanzada and Hamid Mir.

In September 2020, Chaudhry had been seriously injured after he was beaten up by the brothers of a PML-N MNA from Faisalabad Ayesha Rajab for allegedly harassing her and trying to enter her residence.

When questioned about the reason to visit Rajab’s residence at late-night hours, the politician claimed that he was summoned there to discuss important party affairs, “Tanzeem Saazi”.

Later, Talal denied the media reports claiming that he was thrashed by the brothers of the woman MNA, local media reported.

Talal is considered a close and reliable colleague of Maryam Safdar, the PML-N vice-president.

Analysts said it was surprising that the media outlet invited a politician who had been facing allegations of harassing a woman MP of his own party in the name of ‘Tanzeem Saazi’.

In the video clip, senior anchorperson Hamid Mir claimed that Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Noor Alam Khan had been pressurised by Javed Iqbal to refrain from putting up the case and summoning him in Tayyaba Gul case. He added that Iqbal did not appear before the committee. Mir also claimed that Noor Alam Khan is having more videos as evidence against Iqbal other than Tayyaba Gul’s video.

Mir said that the allegations against Iqbal have a direct connection with the proceedings of the commission which was constituted to look into missing persons issue and at least women lodged same complaints like Gul.
