The internet users were left burning with curiosity when Fencing Coach Lucas Guillermo Saucedo expressed his feelings by showcasing a handwritten proposal to Argentine fencer María Belén Pérez during a live interview after a match at Tokyo Olympics.

Holding a handwritten placard, Lucas Saucedo appeared behind Maria questioning “Do you want to marry me?” and instantly sank to his knee.

All cameras immediately diverted to the proposer and the viewers impatiently twiddle their thumbs.

Explaining the scenario, Saucedo said he asked a volunteer to get him a sheet and pen to write his proposal but got rejected.

However, when he offered to trade an Olympic pin for the paper, the volunteer helped him.

Previously, Saucedo tried a similar stunt at the world championships in Paris in 2010 but couldn’t succeed as the athlete turned off the proposal saying “Is this a joke or what?”.

Interestingly, after 17 years and a second attempt, fencer María has accepted coach Lucas as her better half.

The proposal moment from the Olympics has taken the internet by storm and the users are wishing the fencer and coach all the happiness for the future.

The couple revealed they are going to hold the celebration a little longer as they are unable to immediately leave the Olympic village due to covid restrictions.
