Tokyo to Host Gender-Balanced Olympics With Most Women Ever
The female representation in Rio Games 2016 was 45% and it was 44.2% in London Games 2012
The due to start this Friday Tokyo 2020 Olympics has blissed-out followers for arranging the first gender-balanced games in history featuring the highest number of female athletes.
The Games previously didn’t hold an impressive track record when it comes to gender equality.
However, this year’s event will have 48.8% of female competitors which is a new landmark in gender equality.

The five countries with women athletes in excess than men include Great Britain, United States (US), China, Australia, and Canada.

China is sending 431 athletes of which 298 are females and 133 are males whereas 329 women and 284 men will be coming from the US.
From Great Britain, 201 contestants are females and 175 are males while 225 women and 145 men will represent Canada.
Australia’s number consists of 252 women and 219 men in the event while Russia is also sending more female athletes than males.
Notably, Tokyo Olympics is going to set a new record in history for hosting a gender-balanced event as female representation in Rio Games 2016 was 45% and it was 44.2% in London Games 2012.
The female contestants are also allowed to compete in events that were previously only opened to men including 1,500 meters freestyle swimming, boxing, karate, surfing, canoe, rowing, and shooting.
