Local Production to Boost Mobile Phone Sales in Pakistan
In the first two months of the current year, Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing industry produced 1.21 million sets at 33 domestic assembly plants
The never-ending competition between mobile phone brands has taken a new turn as internationally renowned companies are establishing their assembling points in Pakistan, booming the sector’s growth.
In the first two months of 2021, Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing industry produced 1.21 million mobile phones at 33 domestic assembly plants.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the country produced 2.1 million smartphone devices in 2020, a record which is likely to be broken this year.

In 2020, Pakistan approved its first mobile device manufacturing policy to attract investment and encourage manufacturers of major cellphone brands to set up plants in Pakistan.
Failing in the United States (US), Chinese multinational technology company Huawei Technologies headed to Pakistan in March this year before its South Korean competitor Samsung.
Signing the agreement, the business executive Javed Afridi announced the deal.

Later, Samsung and Pakistan’s Lucky Group inked an agreement in July for local production of mobile devices and all formalities have been completed.

Moreover, Vivo Communication Technology Company also joined the club and announced to establish its first production base set up in Faisalabad.
This will be Vivo’s 6th such intelligent production base and it is investing $10 million to set up the plant in the country.
Currently, Pakistan has a local demand of 3.3 million mobile phones monthly and the country is also set to launch 5G connectivity by December 2022.
The establishment of mobile assembling plants is going to make a profitable impact on the overall economy of the country.
