US Diplomat Disregarded For Disregarding Pakistan

“It's for a very specific and narrow purpose, we don’t see ourselves building a broad relationship with Pakistan. And we have no interest in returning to the days of hyphenated India, Pakistan,” she said

Wendy Sherman, Visiting US Deputy Secretary of State, has cleared the air saying that the matter of India and Pakistan are to be dealt with separately.

While speaking at the Ananta Aspen Centre in Mumbai, the US deputy secretary said that she was going to Pakistan for a “very specific and narrow purpose” in the context of Afghanistan.

“It’s for a very specific and narrow purpose, we don’t see ourselves building a broad relationship with Pakistan and we have no interest in returning to the days of hyphenated India, Pakistan”, she said.

After her trip to India, Sherman reached Pakistan and she was received by a mid-ranking official.

Experts say that Wendy’s recent tour and a statement regarding India and Pakistan seem hyphenation of the 2 countries.

“So it’s a very particular set of reasons for going and I am glad, as always, we share information back and forth between our governments, and I will be glad to brief them on the trip,” she said.

Moreover, Wendy also met Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to discuss Afghanistan’s future and the important and long-standing U.S.-Pakistan relationship.
